Nose Filling Basics
Nose Filling, or rhinoplasty, is a cosmetic surgery procedure used to change the shape or size of your nose. It can also be used to correct breathing problems caused by structural defects in the nose.
Types of Nose Filling
-
- Augmentation rhinoplasty: This procedure can add volume to your nose—for instance, to make a flat bridge more prominent—or to reshape a specific area.
-
- Reduction rhinoplasty: This type of nose filling removes excess cartilage and bone to reduce overall size of the nose.
-
- Revision rhinoplasty: This surgery corrects issues caused by a previous rhinoplasty.
Candidates for Nose Filling
Nose Filling is available to anyone aged 16 or older who wants to alter the shape or size of their nose, or address breathing difficulties caused by a structural defect. It’s important to note that complete results of nose Filling typically take a few months to show, so you should be patient if you are considering this procedure.
The Benefits of Nose Filling
The main benefit of nose filing is improved appearance and higher self-esteem. You can also experience better breathing after the surgery if it was done to address a structural issue.
What to Expect During a Nose Filling Procedure
Your surgeon will use small incisions inside your nose and sometimes on the outside of your nose to reshape the underlying structures. In most cases, you will need to stay in the clinic for one to two days. After the surgery, your nose may be swollen, tender, and discolored for a few days.
Recovery After Nose Filling Surgery
You should allow your body a couple of weeks to heal after the nose Filling procedure. During this time, you should avoid strenuous activities and engage in light activities such as walking. Most swelling and bruising should be gone after two weeks. You should be able to see the true results of your surgery after about three weeks.
