Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid Surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the eyes by enhancing their appearance, such as reducing wrinkles and bags, improving the sagging of the eyelids and lifting the brow area.

Benefits of Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid Surgery offers a number of benefits, such as:

    • Reduces wrinkles and bags under the eyes
    • Improves drooping, tired-looking eyes
    • Enhances the look of the upper and lower eyelids
    • Creates more open, alert, aesthetically pleasing eyes

Types of Eyelid Surgery

There are two common types of eyelid surgery:

    • Upper Eyelid Surgery: aims to enhance the appearance of the upper eyelids by removing excess skin and fat.
    • Lower Eyelid Surgery: targets the lower eye area, removing wrinkles, bags and excess fat.

Preparation for Surgery

Before undergoing eyelid surgery, it is important to discuss your goals and expectations with your plastic surgeon. You will also need to undergo a physical examination as well as tests to ensure that you are healthy and a good candidate for the surgery. Your surgeon may also recommend that you stop certain medications before the procedure.

Recovery After Surgery

Recovery time following eyelid surgery will depend on the type and extent of the procedure. Patients should plan to rest and avoid strenuous activity for a few days afterward, and may need to apply cold compresses to reduce swelling. They should also keep their head on an elevated surface above the heart when sleeping.

For most people, the results of eyelid surgery are permanent. While the procedure cannot stop the natural aging process, it can keep the eyes looking fresh and alert for longer.
